ASCA was born in 1952. Mainly this was started for TELUGU citizens in Chennai which was also extended to TAMIL brothers.

Today the association has around 3800 members from different walks of life, like doctors, lawyers, architects, engineers, chartered accountants, industrialists and many more dignitaries.

When the Telugu Film Industry was in Chennai, all the top producers, directors and actors had their initial moorings from ASCA and it had been acknowledged that ASCA connections had developed their career to greater heights.

The growth of the association is the best example for its status today as the best cultural association in Chennai.

The Association functions from its own premises in the heart of Chennai with facilities like library, billiards, shuttle, badminton, well equipped Gym, swimming pool, bar, restaurants, conference halls guest rooms and a theatre for cultural programs and movie shows.

Sri Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy, then President of India in 1981 presided over the Silver Jubilee Celebrations. Sri G M C Balayogi, then speaker of LOK SABHA laid the Foundation stone for new building complex in 1998.

The association has contributed to Flood Relief Fund to Chief Minister of TN Dr M G Ramachandran and also to Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh.

During Kargil War they have contributed to Chief Minister Relief Fund and also to Gujarat Govt. during Earthquake in 2001.

During 2002, the Association has conducted Golden Jubilee Celebrations by inviting His Excellency Sri P S Rama Mohan Rao the Governor of Tamilnadu and declared opened the Golden Jubilee Block.

Sri U V Krishnamma Raju Hon'ble Minister of State of Defence, Govt. Of India participated in Tamil New Years Day in the same year.

Dr K Rosaiah, Governor of Tamilnadu presided the UGADI celebrations in ASCA and thereafter many cultural and social functions as Chief Guest. His Excellency also inaugurated the Curtain Raiser Function ofthe PRAPANCHA TELUGU MAHA SABHALU along with Sri Mandali Budda Prasad, during 2012 in ASCA premises.

ASCA conducts Telugu Cultural programs in ASCA premises regularly. ASCA conducts inter school competitions in music, dances, singing and other activities to encourage Telugu culture. ASCA established a TRUST which regularly donates books, educational scholarships and to the deserving students in Chennai city besides cultural programs for the development of Telugu culture.

ASCA also felicitates Telugu dignitaries, intellectuals, scholars, singers, writers, and encourages folk arts of Andhra Pradesh regularly by conducting functions in their halls. ASCA acts as a Centre point, helping platform on any common social issues, representations for Telugus in Chennai city. ASCA also acts as common platform for conducting other Telugu Associations programs in Chennai.

Recently with the Efforts of His Excellency the Governor of Tamilnadu Dr K Rosaiah, the Hon'ble Chief Minister of Tamilnadu Dr J Jayalalitha was kind enough to grant Land for Telugu Academy in Chennai.

ASCA has always been supportive to lot of Telugu organizations in Chennai and interested to do a lot more for the benefit of Telugu community living in Chennai.
